Kendal Strachan hails from Rolle Town, Exuma, through his grandparents, Reverend George and Mrs. Leah Strachan. He is a distinguished leader in law enforcement and public service in The Bahamas. With 35 years of dedicated service in the Royal Bahamas Police Force, he has excelled at various levels and across numerous areas of the organization.
Kendal has attended a wide range of specialized training programs, including Tactical Response training at the Louisiana State Police Academy; Crime Management training at Hendon Police Academy, England; and Executive Leadership Command training at the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy (FBINA, Session 253) in Quantico, Virginia. He has also completed Border Security Training with U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Miami, Florida, and Human Trafficking training by the Department of Homeland Security in Haiti.
A Firearms Trafficking expert, Kendal received training from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and participated in a United Nations program on the Illegal Shipment of Small Arms and Light Weapons in Lima, Peru. He is a Past President of the FBINA Latin America and Caribbean Chapter and an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).
Kendal is also a committed Rotarian with 17 years of service. He is a Past President of the Rotary Club of New Providence (2012–2013) and a recipient of multiple Paul Harris Fellow awards. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for the same club and is the Director of Operations for the Rotary Club of The Bahamas Disaster Committee. His Rotary involvement has taken him to District Conferences in St. Thomas, Haiti, The Bahamas, and Jamaica, as well as International Rotary Conventions in Bangkok, Thailand, and New Orleans, Louisiana.
Throughout his career, Kendal has exemplified “Service Above Self.” In recognition of his contributions, he has received Medals of Gallantry, Meritorious Service, and Long Service & Good Conduct. Beyond his law enforcement career, Kendal is also a skilled builder and an entrepreneur. Kendal is married to Asaneth Strachan (née Lockhart), and together they have three daughters, all of whom are pursuing higher education at universties abroad.
